Join us for a hands-on stewardship workshop in Heartland Forest’s restored wetland ecosystem! Participants will learn about the vital role wetlands play in supporting biodiversity, improving water quality, reducing flooding, and providing habitat for wildlife.

During this workshop, participants will:

  • Help plant native wetland and aquatic species that support pollinators, amphibians, turtles, birds, and other wildlife.
  • Learn how native plants contribute to healthy and resilient ecosystems.
  • Assist with the identification and removal of invasive aquatic and wetland plants.
  • Discover how invasive species can alter habitat quality and reduce biodiversity.
  • Learn to identify common native wetland plants and invasive species found in Niagara wetlands, including Purple Loosestrife.
  • Explore our restored wetland and learn about the ecological restoration efforts taking place at Heartland Forest.

This workshop is suitable for adults, families, community groups, and anyone interested in conservation, gardening, habitat restoration, or learning more about Ontario’s wetlands.

What to Bring:

  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Closed-toe footwear or rubber boots
  • Water bottle
  • Gardening gloves (if available)

Anyone is welcome! Children must be accompanied by an adult.
