Heartland Forest is having a digger crayfish burrow survey on July 4th at 12:30pm, and July 18th at 10:30am! We will be meeting at the front desk. The purpose of these surveys is to see if Heartland Forest has any digger crayfish. We’d love for you to join us for this process and learn some things on the way!

Digger crayfish are important because they break down plant materials that are resistant to decay. They also modify their surrounding environment which often provides habitat for other animals as well. Doing this survey will give us an idea of whether or not this species is present on our property, how many there are, and which locations they like the most.
We will also be testing the water in our restored wetland. We’re going to test the conductivity, temperature, and water level. This will be a cool opportunity to see how we do this, along with the crayfish survey.
It would be great to have you here. If you’re interested, you can sign up through the button below. See you soon!
